Irish Cottages for Rent -
a fairytale cottage visit to the west coast of Ireland. Choose your dreamy cottage. Get some tips on interesting sights, flora, fauna and experiences.
Irish Cottages for Rent
The Wild Atlantic Way takes in the western coast of Ireland, some of the most stunning and romantic parts of the country.
The full length of the Wild Atlantic Way is 1600 miles or 2600 km. I suggest you drive to County Cork to start the Wild Atlantic Way from the south. From Dublin to the southern start of the Wild Atlantic Way is 280 km, just outside of Kinsale.
Take 5-7 days to follow the way in comfort with some exploring, or longer if
you want to stay in a particular fairytale cottage for a few nights. If you
follow the tips I have shared here, you will drive many more miles of side
trips and country lanes to your cottage accommodation, sightseeing, hiking and exploring.
The Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland - the full route takes you through 8 counties of Ireland from south to north:
Start your trip at the beautiful Old Head of Kinsale - your
touchstone can be the Old Head Downmacpatrick Castle - built in the third
century - now a ruin sitting at the narrowest point of the peninsula with
magnificent scenery all around. Finish your journey at Malin Head in Donegal, just north of Silver Strand Beach.
If you are driving from Dublin to start your journey on the Wild Atlantic way to won’t want to miss the Blarney Stone and Blarney Castle in Cork before the start of the Way. Do this on your journey towards the beginning of the Way.

'This tour was amazing! My family (all adults) and I had such a great time. The whole experience was well timed, allowing you got to have time to explore and visit the smallest Aran Islands and Cliffs without excess waiting. We had beautiful weather for the Cliffs cruise and visit to the top of the cliffs which was the gem of the experience. Dave was a great guide, and everything ran smoothly with his guidance and expertly navigated the winding roads on the tour which was amazing to witness since it allowed us to see so much of the beautiful countryside on the tour as well. I'll definitely be recommending this tour to my family and friends for any upcoming visits to Ireland!'

Keep an eye out for Guillemots, Razorbills and Kittywakes on the cliffs along the coast. Look up to spot a Red Kite with its distinctive forked tail, this species was reintroduced to Ireland in 2007 after becoming extinct. Depending on the season, the road sides will be covered in yellow bloom of the furze or gorse bushes. On your hikes, search for Red Deer or spot an Irish Hare.
If you love birds, visit the Burren Birds of Prey Centre in Ballyvaughan, County Clare, conservationists who are actively involved in the reintroduction of Red Kites to Ireland. See flying displays or take a 'hawk walk' with the bird on your wrist.
