What is the Storybook Tudor Cottage style?

The storybook Tudor style combines features of a Tudor house such as steep roof pitch, half-timber walls and stonework with the fairytale like features such as charm and playfulness, in short – a Tudor cottage that could be from a children’s story book.

What is Tudor cottage style?

Tudor architecture started in from England in 1485 to 1603 and features steep gable roofs, decorated stone or mason chimneys, exposed wood beams, half-timber walls, carved doorways, grouped windows in pairs, threes, or fours, sometimes with ornamental leaded glass. A light-colored stucco or stone built the walls between timber structures which created a distinctive two-toned exterior facade.

What is a storybook house?

Also called fairytale houses, these are cottages with a distinctive style of architecture inspired by children’s story books. It could be a charming home for Snow White and the Seven dwarfs, or fairies, with quaint features, a sloping roof, cosy small size and artistic unique features.
