In my travels to find whimsy and magic I include cabins, bachs, bungalows, lodges, casitas, huts and homes in our wide range of magical places. But each one must have that special something, that je ne sais quoi. I call it whimsy.

Share your cottage, share your inspiration and share your story. This is a place for lovers of cottages to exchange stories and photos and tips. There are so many proud and enthusiastic cottages owners working on their beloved homes every day, living in them or getting them ready for visitors. They might be B&B's, or lodges, mountain cabins, horse ranches or holiday homes. They could be seaside shacks or beach bachs. These we will also explore together and share. I look forward to hearing about your enchanting cottage.

Cosiness and Wellness - Its all about Happiness

The Danish people are the happiest on earth. It's true. It's been measured. And the Danes have a special word that we do not have in English - hygge - it's not a direct translation. It is all about cosiness. Hygge - pronounced 'hoo-gah' - means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. The warm glow of candlelight is hygge. It might be translated as 'snug', but it goes further. It can mean a special cosy, contented mood evoked by comfort and conviviality. The Danish cottages are full of hygge. And I like to think cottages everywhere are a good place to start to find your snug, your hygge and your happiness.
